All posts for the month December, 2012
The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.
Here’s an excerpt:
600 people reached the top of Mt. Everest in 2012. This blog got about 2,600 views in 2012. If every person who reached the top of Mt. Everest viewed this blog, it would have taken 4 years to get that many views.
Tonight’s full moon is called the Full Cold Moon. Since our “hunter/gatherer” lives are more Wal-Mart and less open prairies, many have forgotten that each full moon has a name all its own. If you’re interested in these names, the Farmers Almanac has a great page with not only the names of the full moons, but their meanings as well.
Full Moon Names and Their Meanings
Here’s what they say about tonight’s full moon:
The Full Cold Moon; or the Full Long Nights Moon – December During this month the winter cold fastens its grip, and nights are at their longest and darkest. It is also sometimes called the Moon before Yule. The term Long Night Moon is a doubly appropriate name because the midwinter night is indeed long, and because the Moon is above the horizon for a long time. The midwinter full Moon has a high trajectory across the sky because it is opposite a low Sun.
My all time favorite is the name for March’s moon: The Full Worm Moon. I dunno, it just makes me smile. I’m not a fisherman so I don’t associate it with worms coming up to be harvested for bait. I always see cartoon worms hopping and skipping about and celebrating spring.
Come celebrate the Full Cold Moon with us at Drake Homes Inc and warm up in front of a cozy fire!
And let’s face it, holidays are stressful! Need a few minutes of ultra relaxation, but no time (or money!) for the local Day Spa? Here’s an idea:
Rosebuds and bathwater.
Simply sprinkle a few rosebud petals into your bath and soak away the stress has the sensual smell of roses fills your Drake Homes Inc bathroom.

Dateline! I can’t seem to find a date but the headline reads:
Hydropolis Underwater Hotel, Dubai. Hydropolis is the first luxury underwater hotel in the world, and is currently under construction in Dubai.
According to the article this hotel was due to be completed late 2007. I used the terrific free browser Google Chrome to translate the page, which is in Spanish, here..>
What a great design! Sadly I kept searching only to find that construction has not begun or that there appears to be any planned. Here’s an short article about what would have been or could one day be, one of the most expensive hotels ever built: Wiki article re: Hydropolis You’ll see that this hasn’t been updated since mid 2010.
Back in the real world, you’ll find well planned and very well constructed home right in the Houston area! Visit us at Drake Homes Inc and see our great communities and floorplans!
After considerable research, I’ve learned that cooks shouldn’t try to water down tomato paste and make it into tomato sauce. That said, or learned, our menu for this evening changed in a Big Way. Goodbye homemade chili and Hello Denny’s. Actually our homemade chili comes from a packet but you do have to add meat, tomato sauce, and beans to it. While writing this post I did another search, for simple chili recipes and found one I want to try: Beefy Cowboy Chili over on the Rot-Tel site.
Did you know that when Walt Disney would travel, even overseas, he’d pack cans of chili and packages of crackers and have that for meals? I swear he was related to my Dad in that respect. I never open a package of Premium Saltines I don’t think of Walt and of course, Dad. One of our great lunch favorites when we would be out moving cattle or on a long road trip: Crackers, hard boiled eggs and a few cans of Vienna Sausages. No, I haven’t read the ingredients on those cans, and no I never will. I would do nothing to destroy the memories that little meal brings to mind.
If you were wondering what to cook one night, between the holidays, I suggest a good chili, and some crackers. Just the thing to stir up in your Drake Homes Inc kitchen!

We’ve been searching for a font or two to use not only on a new web site, but for the client’s new logo as well. I learned long ago that just because I love it, it doesn’t mean the client will love it, or even like it! If I had my druthers I’d chose from among my favorite mid-century fonts, some of which include “Spacegun,” Fontdinerdotcom Sparkly,” and “Sign Painter.”
I love the stars in Spacegun, they are on the lowercase i and j and some of the punctuation.
And the sparkles on Fontdinerdotcom Sparkly.
I’ll link to the page which shows Sign Painter. There are several in the Sign Painter font kit…>
We’ll go with something less showy but I wanted to share these. We don’t use them on the Drake Homes Inc web site either, maybe I should discuss it with them.
