With January almost half over, I’ve been transferring notes from my 2012 calendar to the new 2013 calendar. If I don’t do this each year, I realize an embarrassing 6 or 8 weeks later I’ve forgotten to send greeting cards and good wishes to my oldest friends.
And I’ve starting pondering the important Valentine’s Day Gift for my husband as well as his birthday. When he turned 50 he started counting backwards (“I’ll be the smartest 18 years old anyone has ever met.”) I’d like to do something different this year, different and affordable. And I may have just this evening found the perfect thing: A Family Tree.
I was re-reading Stefani Twyford’s blog entry: Creating a Beautiful Family Tree this evening and while I could do lots of the digging, and with his help, this may be a better way to go. Read her post if you have the opportunity, it may inspire you as well. Another one of her posts gave the link to Family Search, a free family history and geneology search site, this is the monster site run by the Church of Jesus Christs of Latter-day Saints (LDS). I have family who worked to build this site, decades ago now, in Arizona and Utah. Funny, my Dad and most of his family can be found, but not my sister or myself. Even my husband and his father and their entire Romanian family are listed. I really should write to them!
Wouldn’t a family tree look great in your home! Something wonderful to hand down for generations, and no person left out!
