“The most popular natural stone countertop material, granite is what many homeowners turn to when it’s time to upgrade. The sharpest knives won’t scratch it, and a bubbling pot won’t mar it. Granite is available in hundreds of colors, both bold and muted, including shades of white, black, gray, green, blue, red, pink, yellow and tan. Patterns are speckled, dotted, veined and more. Every piece possesses its own mineral makeup, meaning each countertop is a unique work of art.”

Looking at some of our kitchen photos today, love these granite counters. I live in a Mid-Century home with original laminate counters so we have to be very careful with hot pans and in fact, I have a piece of Marble by the stove for hot pans, takes up space I’d rather have for other things!
Granite is a very hard substance and is not susceptible to scratches. While not ideal to work on because it will dull knife blades, it will take normal wear and tear very well. Granite resists heat too, so its use near a range or cooktop is ideal. When you have to set down a hot pan fast, granite can take the heat without being damaged or weakened. In the bathroom, placing a hair tool on it that is still warm won’t be a problem.
Granite can be very resistant to stains and won’t absorb liquids when it is properly sealed. All our homes offer upper-tier granite and beautiful ceramic tile in the kitchens in wet areas.
