Being that the anniversary of the battle at San Jacinto is tomorrow, April 21, 2012, you may want to head over there and watch the battle re-enactment at 3pm. Visitors can wander freely among the Mexican and Texian camps of the reactors to learn what the soldiers of that day were doing prior to the battle in 1836.
Read about the Celebration here…> on the ABC website which includes the days’ schedule.
A few months ago I stumbled across the PanCanal.com site. Live feed from the two locks on the Panama Canal.
Now you’d like it might not be interesting be we’ve come downright addicted to it and check both the Miraflores and the Gatun locks several times a day. We’ve seen not only cruise ships such as the those on the Disney line or private luxury ships but one day during lunch (yea eat and work at my desk!) we watched The Cunard Line’s Queen Victoria pass through the locks.
You’ll need a high speed internet connect to really have fun with this. Other links show panoramic views, the expansion program, and the Centennial Bridge. This link…>Miraflores High Resolution cam<… is my favorite. There’s a huge barge moving through the lock as I type!
Then cruise on over to Drake Homes Inc and see what luxury living is all about!
Time to finalize plans for your spring and summer garden. Even if your garden is patio size, flowers bring smiles to all faces.
April sometimes reminds me of those lone socks in the dryer. You know there was once two of them and they were favorites, but sadly now there is only one and it will spend the remainder of it’s knitted life under the kitchen sink area to be used with furniture polish.
The only “famous” events I ever think of related to April happen on the same date (not the same day however VBG): The end of the War Between the States aka Civil War, when Lee surrendered to Grant at Appomattox, and second, my Dad’s birthday.
But lowly April (in MHO) has been a busy month in past years and here, from the ever useful About.com site are a few famous events:
